The Friends raise money to purchase books and periodicals and to fund library programs for adults and kids, primarily by selling gently used books that have been donated by the community.
Visit the Friends’ Bookshop, located on the library level, to browse through hundreds of titles, both fiction and non-fiction, for adults as well as children.
Book Sales
The first Thursday of the month, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, the Friends of the Orinda Library features “dealer days” in the bookshop/sorting room. The public is welcome to these sales.
In addition, the Friends host large public sales twice a year: July 4 and on a variable Saturday in late autumn.
Online Book Sales
Find a complete list of the books the Friends are currently selling online at www.amazon.com/shops/folbooks or on eBay at “folbooks.”
If you find a title you like and can pick it up from our shop, contact us at folbooks@sbcglobal.net to arrange pickup. We’ll give you a 10% discount off the listed price.
Donate Used Books
We welcome the donation of gently used books of all sorts. These books will be sold to support the Orinda Library, either in our Shop next to the Library, at dealer sales, in our semi-annual sales, or online.
Please leave donated books inside the Donation Room, located just inside the library’s parking garage, behind the door marked “Book Donations.”
If you have a large collection to donate, please limit what you drop off to a few boxes at a time so that our volunteers can process them. If you have rare or especially valuable books to give, please contact us at bookdonations@friendsoftheorindalibrary.org.
Any questions? Write us there. This email address is monitored, and you will soon be contacted by a volunteer.
Donations are fully tax-deductible. Tax receipts can be obtained at the circulation desk.
Thank you for your support!
