Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer in the Bookshop
We have a great group of volunteers who work in the Bookshop meeting customers, answering questions and making sales. Most Bookshop shifts are 1:00-4:00pm, with an additional 4:00-6:00pm shift on Thursdays.
Sort Donated Books in the Sorting Room
Sorting donated books is done as a team, usually in the mornings. Shifts are about two hours and are fast-paced fun! Volunteers also manage specific genres and restock the bookshop.
Set Up Monthly Book Sales and/or Be a Cashier
We hold Dealer Sales on the 1st Thursday of every month (except January, August, and July). Set up begins an hour before the sale. If you haven’t volunteered with the Friends of the Orinda Library before, working at our annual community 4th of July Sale is a great way to get started volunteering with us.
Join the Online Sales Team
The online sales team ships books sold on Amazon and eBay. We ship daily, Monday through Saturday, in order to meet our goal of shipping within 24 hours of sale. We also research books to evaluate sales potential as well as create online listings.
Join the Board of Directors
Would you like to support the library by working with the Board of Directors? We welcome new members to help achieve our mission by helping with publicity, membership, marketing, and many other projects.
