The Friends of the Orinda Library are fortunate to receive an abundance of donated books. While many meet the high standards required for resale in our Book Shop, some do not — and with limited storage space, we’re unable to keep all the overflow.
To ensure these books continue to serve a purpose, we “share the wealth” with several community organizations. For example, one of our Orinda volunteers regularly delivers books for distribution to patients at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland. We also provide a selection of children’s books to the Berkeley Food Bank. In addition, another dedicated volunteer has delivered 2,643 books to the Kiwanis Club of Pittsburg, which offers free books at community events in the Pittsburg area.
Your generous donations not only help make our library the “Crown Jewel” of the county system—they also bring the joy of reading to underserved communities throughout the region.
